In less than 18 hours today, Dr. Amit Samarth and Dr. Srinivas Gokulnath are all set to create a history. They have already put behind 4800 km in almost 269 hours of non-stop cycling. For the last 11 days, they have exercised supreme control over their bicyclesโshowing symbolically what ultra-endurance is all about.
Why is their achievement so important? They will become the first Indians to conquer the toughest and the longest cycling race in the world. Only 200 individualsโsince the race was introduced in 1984โhave achieved this milestone.
Our calculations show that close to midnight (our time), they should be able to achieve the target. We are all ears and all eyes to that moment! A moment we have been desperately waiting for! An epoch-making moment for India, indeed! We shall all leap for joy as soon as we hear the good news!
