A year ago, on this very day, Reddy left us.  For close to three-and-a-half decades, we had lived together. Our children grew together. We built our homesโ€”only a green hedge separating them. He showered incessant love and affection on my children. He shared his moments of joy and sorrow with me. We had almost taken our companionship for granted when Reddy left me. Suddenly. When I was away.

This was not fair. For months, I kept on thinking, how could Reddy do so?  It took me time to realise that this was simply not in his nature. Did he really choose to walk off, without telling me? No, it was not his choice. Destiny had its own plans: he tiptoed out of the world according to those plans.

Destiny stole Reddy surreptitiously from me. But can it ever pilfer the precious moments that we shared all our lives?  Life ends, but the memories live, forever. Rest assured, Reddyโ€” you will continue to occupy a very special place in our hearts.
